Empower Materials recently finished several production-size polymer synthesis reactions to produce large quantities of QPAC 60 Polybutylene Carbonate.
These polymers add to the other green polymers commercially produced by Empower Materials: QPAC 25 Polyethylene Carbonate, QPAC 40 Polypropylene Carbonate, QPAC 100 Polypropylene/ Polycyclohexene Carbonate, and QPAC 130 Polycyclohexene Carbonate
QPAC 60 has similar decomposition properties to QPAC25 and QPAC40. It degrades at low temperatures and the residuals remaining after decomposition are negligible. The polymer has a higher glass transition temperature than both QPAC25 and QPAC40. It also exhibits unique flexibility while maintaining excellent strength and binding/ adhesion properties. One targeted application for QPAC60 is for tape casting applications.
The new catalyst technology developed recently has allowed for the production of these materials as well as higher molecular weights for both QPAC 25 and QPAC 40, QPAC 100 Polypropylene/ Polycyclohexene Carbonate, and QPAC 130 Polycyclohexene Carbonate
